Join us to discover Lucie Kovarova-Weir's artistic inspiration and journey working in glass! Lucie began working in glass murrine cane over 17 years ago. Learn how she got her start, how she grew her skills and artistic language, and how she uses her unique sliced cane to apply to beads or set in silver.

Lucie Kovarova-Weir was born in Boskovice, and grew up in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. Pursuing studies in animation; she graduated with a Master's Degree from the prestigious Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, in Prague. She moved to Toronto in 2001 and established the Lunacy Glass Studio in 2002. Lucie currently lives and works in Tweed, Ontario.
Creative process and form awareness is always at the forefront of Lucie’s work focus. The glass pieces she creates surprise viewers by the great attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship. Inspiration for her work often comes from folk art, her garden and a daily life in a small town. Coming from an animation background, she tells a story with a sense of humor and lightness of spirit. All work is created with love and high quality materials in hopes to delight for years to come.
